Charles Dickens desk

I copied this desk from a antique encyclopedia.

When I  first saw the desk I loved it from the beginning.

The simplicity of the desk appealed to me.

I started with making a working drawing and beneath you can see the result.

The desk is made of lime-tree wood which I stained.

The Desk is an original Charles Dickens, it's a pedestal desk with an built-in slanting writing table. In the end of the 19th century this desk was as popular as the writer himself.

All the little drawers and the writing table can be opened.

A detail of the inlaid leather parts of the writing table.
